All users must read these Terms and Conditions carefully. Once you engage with our service, you will be assumed to have read, understood and agreed to our Terms and are therefore bound by them, at all times.

Our Service

Studio Blank is dedicated to designing and creating functional, well-made furniture and homewares from sustainably sourced materials. We provide ready-made signature pieces through our online store and we also delight in collaborating on bespoke pieces with our creative clients.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing a bespoke creation find its special place in your everyday life. All pieces, whether signature or custom, are made with quality, love, style and functionality in mind.

Studio Blank reserves the right to make amendments to our service at any time, without notice or consequence. This includes any aspect of our service- including designs, materials, practices and procedures and prices.

Notwithstanding this, we will endeavour to keep you notified of all necessary amendments. Furthermore, we reserve the right to refuse our service to any person at any time, for any reason we deem valid, including any breach of our Terms & Conditions.

Products & Designs

At Studio Blank we pride ourselves on the individuality of our products and designs. We offer a range of signature pieces and provide a custom design service, where we work closely with you to create the perfect piece for your home.

All technical drawings, design concepts, sketches, and proposals created by Studio Blank — whether or not a physical piece is ever manufactured — remain the property of Studio Blank.

Ownership of completed pieces transfers to you upon delivery, but no rights to the underlying design or technical drawings will transfer to the customer.

All Studio Blank pieces, including signature pieces, are naturally unique. Timber, in particular, may vary in colour, grain, gum sockets, scars, and natural movement. These natural variances are inherent to the materials and form part of the design.

Please see our section on Product Appearance & specifications for further information. While some pieces are considered “signature,” this term refers only to their overall style and features. Every piece produced by Studio Blank contains unique variances.

Customers acknowledge and accept that these natural differences cannot be used as a reason to refuse, cancel or return a piece.

Custom Orders

In addition to our signature pieces, Studio Blank is passionate about creating the perfect bespoke piece to suit your home and lifestyle. We will liaise closely with you to create something that reflects your taste and style, handcrafting your order with care and to the highest standards of quality.

We will provide you with a detailed quote for your piece or pieces (not inclusive of delivery). This quote includes design and administrative work required to develop your custom piece. All quotes are valid for 14-30 days from the date of issue.

Upon your acceptance of the design and the quoted price, you will be liable to pay the agreed amount, along with any separately quoted delivery fee. A 50% deposit of the total order is payable before the commencement of manufacturing. No manufacture will begin until the deposit is received. The remaining balance is payable on delivery, unless an alternative payment structure has been agreed for longer lead or high material cost projects (e.g., 50%/25%/25%).

Deposits are strictly non-refundable. All drawings, designs, and concepts created by Studio Blank remain our property at all times, even if the custom piece is not manufactured. Approval of a design does not transfer any rights to the customer, and any use of these designs without our prior written consent is strictly prohibited.

Please note that natural materials, particularly timber, are inherently unique. Variations in grain, colour, gum sockets, scars, and natural movement are normal and are part of the character of each piece. These variances are not considered defects and will not be grounds for cancellation, refund, or exchange.

Customer approval

We always take the time required to understand our customer and their requirements for custom pieces. During the initial phase of the design process, we will consult with you directly and produce a drawing, including specifications, to reflect your input alongside our design expertise.

Once a design has been approved by the customer, only minor changes may be accommodated at Studio Blank’s discretion. Any approved changes may incur additional costs and/or extend the projected production timeline.

Variations in timber, or adjustments required following site inspections, may necessitate further modifications to your piece, which could also result in additional charges.

All design work is chargeable. Time spent on revisions, concept development, or sampling—before or after design approval—is included in the overall project cost and is non-refundable. Any additional work requested post-approval may also be charged.

All drawings, concepts, and design work remain the intellectual property of Studio Blank, whether or not the custom piece is ultimately manufactured. Approval of a design does not confer ownership of the design itself to the customer.

Custom payment

For standard custom orders, a 50% deposit is required upon approval of your design, with the remaining 50% payable in full upon completion prior to delivery.

For long-lead or complex projects, alternative payment structures may apply (for example, 50% / 25% / 25%), and these will be clearly outlined in your quote.

Deposits are strictly non-refundable.

Design and administrative work—such as concept development, revisions, and sampling—is included in the project quote and is non-refundable.

Receipt of a deposit does not mean immediate commencement of manufacture; production timelines will depend on project scheduling, material availability, and other planning considerations.

delivery, Customer Delays & Storage

Studio Blank outsources local deliveries to a trusted delivery partner unless the item requires specialised installation or handling by our internal team.

Delivery quotes are separate from your project quote and are based on size, weight, and location. You will be notified when your order is ready for delivery.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that the delivery site is safe, accessible, and ready to receive the product. This includes providing clear access, safe flooring or surfaces, and any necessary support from other trades present onsite. Studio Blank reserves the right to refuse delivery if the site is deemed unsafe. If delivery proceeds despite unsafe conditions, the client assumes full responsibility for any resulting damage, loss, or injury. Studio Blank is not liable for delays, damage, or additional costs arising from unsafe or inaccessible delivery sites and redelivery cost may apply.

For interstate or long-distance deliveries, third-party carriers are used. Studio Blank is not responsible for the carriers’ policies, delays, or any loss or damage during transit. Insurance is strongly recommended.

Customers must provide 8–12 weeks’ notice if delivery cannot be accepted due to any customer delays. If notice is not provided or Studio Blank cannot facilitate this change, Studio Blank may arrange delivery to storage selected by the client, at the client’s cost. All storage, insurance, redelivery, and handling fees are the responsibility of the client.
Studio Blank is not liable for any loss, damage, or deterioration while goods are in storage.

lead times & timeframes

At Studio Blank, quality and craftsmanship are our foremost priorities. We do not undertake fast-turnaround orders; each piece is carefully designed, sourced, and crafted to ensure the highest standard.

Estimated lead times are provided as a guide only. Delays may occur due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to material availability, supplier delays, skilled staffing constraints, or other unforeseen events. In the event of a delay, Studio Blank will keep you updated if your project is expected to extend beyond the projected completion date. While we strive to communicate promptly, we cannot be held liable for any losses, costs, or damages arising from delayed delivery.

Customers acknowledge that lead times may vary and that delivery dates are not guaranteed. Requests to cancel orders or seek refunds due to delays are not automatically accepted and will be considered at Studio Blank’s discretion.

Studio Blank cannot be held liable for any negative consequences that may result from delays, as we do not provide guarantees regarding the delivery date of your order.

Loan Items & Goodwill Arrangements:

From time to time, and at our sole discretion, Studio Blank may offer temporary loan items to customers as a gesture of goodwill where delivery delays occur. Any such loan items are provided strictly as a courtesy only and do not form part of the original order, contract, or scope of works.Loan items remain the property of Studio Blank at all times and must be returned in the same condition as supplied, fair wear and tear excepted, by the date specified by Studio Blank. Studio Blank does not accept any liability for third-party hire fees, rental costs, replacement costs, or invoices incurred by a customer or designer where a loan item has not been expressly agreed to in writing by Studio Blank in advance.

Studio Blank will not be responsible for any costs, losses, or expenses arising from a customer’s decision to source alternative or substitute furniture, whether temporarily or otherwise, unless expressly approved by Studio Blank in writing prior to arrangement.

customer delays

Delays caused by building projects, trades on site, or client scheduling may result in additional storage, insurance, or delivery fees, as outlined in the Delivery & Storage section.

Studio Blank will notify you if such costs are incurred. Customers acknowledge that Studio Blank is not liable for any loss, damage, or deterioration that may occur while goods are in storage or awaiting delivery due to scheduling delays.

changes & cancellation

Studio Blank aims for complete customer satisfaction with all pieces. We will endeavor to accommodate changes to custom orders wherever possible; however, we cannot guarantee that all requested changes can be made.

Any changes that incur additional design or production costs will be quoted separately and must be approved before implementation.

Please ensure you are certain before confirming your order.

All deposits are strictly non-refundable. Deposits cover the time, design work, and administrative effort required to begin your custom order.

I
f a custom order is cancelled within 24 hours of confirmation, a cancellation fee may apply to cover design, concept development, and administrative work.

Once manufacturing has commenced, cancellation may not be accepted, and payment of the remaining balance of the order may be required to cover costs.

product appearance & specifications

All Studio Blank pieces are unique, handcrafted items. Product images provided to you during the custom design process, or previously viewed examples, may appear slightly different to your finished product. Each piece will exhibit its own individual characteristics, which are a natural part of the materials used.

Timber, in particular, is a living, natural material and can vary greatly from piece to piece. Natural qualities may include, but are not limited to:
- Timber grain and colour variations
- Gum sockets, knots, and scars
- Natural movement over time

Customers must explicitly communicate if they do not want any particular features in timber (e.g., knots or burls). Any special selection of timber at the yard will incur an additional fee.

Other materials used in Studio Blank products, such as glass, aluminium, metals, composites, or 3D-printed PLA components, also have inherent variations. Normal characteristics include:
- Slight colour, tone, or opacity differences
- Variation in texture, surface finish, or pattern
- Minor tool marks or layer lines from 3D printing
- Oxidation, patina, or ageing on metals and aluminium
- Air bubbles, flow marks, or slight inconsistencies in glass

These natural variations are expected and celebrated part of the design. They are not considered defects, will not be covered by warranty, and do not constitute grounds for a refund or exchange.

We strongly encourage clients to review timber and material samples before approving a design. While samples provide guidance, each piece will retain its own character. Minimal changes to material specifications may occasionally occur; notice will be given where possible, but small variances are not grounds for cancellation, return, or refund.

returns & refunds

All Studio Blank pieces are custom, made-to-order, and unique. Each item is carefully designed and crafted to meet your specifications. Because of the bespoke nature of our work, we do not provide refunds for change of mind.

Please ensure you are confident in your order before confirming.

Studio Blank products must be used and cared for according to the guidance provided. Damage caused by the following is not considered a fault and is not eligible for refund or exchange:
- Exposure to direct sunlight, heat sources (heaters, radiators, hot windows, appliances), or moisture (including steam or humidity)
- Accidental damage, mishandling, dropping, impact, or excessive pressure
- Incorrect cleaning practices, use of abrasive cleaners or chemicals, or improper cloths
- Modifications, repairs, or alterations performed by third partiesInstallation errors or use contrary to instructions, warnings, or intended purpose

As a natural and handcrafted product, variations are expected and celebrated. Differences in timber, metal, glass, finishes, or other materials—including colour, grain, texture, surface patina, slight asymmetry, or dimensional shifts—do not constitute defects. Such variations are part of the character and design intent and will not be grounds for a refund or exchange. Clients must explicitly communicate any features or characteristics they do not want. Requests for Studio Blank to select specific timber or materials on your behalf may incur additional fees.
Studio Blank aims to deliver pieces of the highest standard. If your order arrives damaged, faulty, or materially not as described, you must notify us within 24 hours of delivery with:
